Appropriate recognition of the cause of one’s underestimated feeding rate

Currently, a feeding and swallowing function evaluation device is known to evaluate the feeding and swallowing function of someone. If one has impaired semantic memory function, the feeding rate may be decreased even when the eating behavior is normal. However, existing feeding and swallowing function evaluation device does not output information on one’s semantic memory function, making it impossible to recognize the cause of the underestimated feeding rate.   This invention is able to provide a feeding and swallowing function evaluation device that can appropriately recognize the cause of one's underestimated feeding rate. This invention has a feeding behavior information acquisition unit, a correct/incorrect information acquisition unit, a feeding behavior evaluation information output unit and a semantic memory evaluation information output unit. In this invention, the evaluation of feeding and swallowing function is performed by a computer which acquires information on the correctness of one's response to a semantic memory task and outputs information on whether the semantic memory function is normal or not. This allows proper recognition of the cause of one's underestimated feeding rate.

A mathematical model was constructed to determine the pattern of nanofluid flow in droplets and the structure of deposited nanoparticle layer.

 Recently, nanomaterials, including nanofluids and polymer nanocomposite materials, have been extensively investigated. These materials have diverse applications, such as conductive nano-inks, solar cells, and sensors. In contrast, Inkjet technology offers several advantages, including a simple device configuration, high flexibility in material combination, low environmental impact due to on-demand production, and scalability. These attributes have driven growing interest in printed electronics technology, which applies this technique to the fabrication of electronic circuits and devices.  The present invention enables quantitative evaluation of characteristic patterns that emerge in nanofluid droplets ejected from an inkjet nozzle and adhered to a substrate. By developing a mathematical model governing droplet wetting behavior, it became feasible to design flow patterns within nanofluid droplets and nanoparticle patterns deposited on a substrate. Furthermore, a measurement technique for nanofluid droplets has been successfully developed. (See T24-030).

Visualization of Penetration Characteristics and Pharmacokinetics with Dynamic Skin Model

Microneedles deliver drugs by coating or loading therapeutic agents onto fine needles that penetrate tissues and release the drug in a minimally invasive manner. However, pharmacokinetic evaluations have so far relied on the assumption that sufficient drug amounts were successfully administered to achieve therapeutic effect. This has limited the quantitative assessment of safety and efficacy. Our system enables quantitative evaluation of microneedle penetration behavior—such as penetration depth, direction, and the range of affected tissue—within a simulated skin environment that can reproduce mechanical properties like pulsation and viscoelasticity. These features allow realistic replication of the dynamic interactions that occur during microneedle insertion. Using stereo camera–based measurements, the system captures both the physical penetration process and the dynamic deformation of the target with high precision.

This invention provides a non-contact quantitative analysis device to evaluate the swallowing function of elders by monitoring the movement of neck surface. Also, the device is useful to evaluate objectively if the food is delicious and if elders can swallow the food smoothly.

Non-contact, non-destructive and position-selective residual stress evaluation using volume variation obtained by microscopic Raman scattering spectrum

Chemically strengthened glass has become very popular as the cover glass for smartphones. This glass is made by immersing the glass in the potassium nitrate melt and exchanging ions between the sodium ions in the glass and the potassium ions in the potassium nitrate melt. Conventional methods to evaluate the chemically strengthened glass strength are the bending method and the optical waveguide method. However, these methods are not suitable for measuring locally the residual stress, and there is a limit in the glass samples that can be measured.   This invention is able to evaluate the residual stresses of the chemically strengthened glass in a non-contact, non-destructive and position-selective manner. In this invention, the residual stress is calculated from the volume variation ratio which increases with ion exchange, obtained by the microscopic Raman scattering spectrum.

Accurate evaluation of electromigration damage

 With the high integration of electronic devices, high temperature of metal wiring and high current density used in circuits are increasing. Then, electromigration (EM) damage due to metal fatigue becomes a problem, which may cause disconnection failure. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the reliability of wiring.  Conventional reliability evaluation methods include empirical equations (Black's equation), but tests for each wiring structure are necessary, and evaluation accuracy is also problematic. Since threshold current density of EM damage exists in multilayer wiring with via connections, evaluation studies of threshold current density have conventionally been conducted. However, evaluation of the EM damage process leading to the generation and growth of voids and disconnection has not been achieved, and a highly accurate evaluation method has been required.  In order to solve the above problems, we have developed a method for evaluating wire life and allowable current with high accuracy and simplicity. In the present invention, the parameters controlling EM damage can be specified and the atomic concentration distribution inside the wiring can be simulated. By utilizing this method, it is also possible to design an effective reservoir structure to improve the threshold current density.
